THE ANDREW FREEDMAN HOME

The Andrew Freedman Home aims to create a healthy and nurturing
space where the community unites to learn and grow, develop and
train…a place where art and culture converge, where talents and dreams
are nurtured and possibilities unleashed. They are all about building
vibrant, sustainable programs and projects that transform our neighborhoods! It is a designated historic landmark constructed in the
1930’s as a retirement home for wealthy individuals who lost their fortunes in the depression! The exhibit Re-Writing History by Fabiola Jean-Louis re-envisions the past in light of the racial strife of the present, and alludes to the absence of black women in historical narratives.
